The Armoury Show

ABOUT

The Armoury Show was inevitable collection of friends who, although having varied influences, had a common goal - to be involved in a project which had no leaders and no boundries. Five years of ragged discipline had earned many an ulcer never favourable to producing more than conflict.

Webb, McGeoch, Jobson and Doyle found hope during April 1983 when they attempted the impossible - to stumble through the writing of songs and perform them live first in Sweden - the summer of 1983 and and then a disastrous London concert which saw 'Heaven' aglow with A & R gentlemen who ran to the appropriate cubicle.

Questions were asked and wounds slowly healed - to have survived this long seemed miraculous - a new arena of songwriting appeared, optimism, self belief, and most importantly the songs settled into a common nest wkere they began to hatch.

November 1983 found a sellout concert at london's 'Venue' viewed by many an unblinkered eye. organisation became apparent and the serious side of life was taken to task by the formidable American duo of Q. Prime Inc Management, who had previously plotted the lives of pere Ubu and Def Leppard.

Now feeling like a rabbit at 'White City' on a bad night, The Armoury Show' were caught by EMI America and Parlophone in the UK.
